An Egret

My son texted me yesterday to say that he was sending some pictures of a creature that he spied outside his window while taking a break from work.

Little Blue Heron

For the first time ever, I saw a Little Blue Heron walking around in the swamp today! It was quite an unusual sight. No, I did not get a picture of him as I was so shocked, but he looked just like this one. This is a bird that it is quite commonly seen in the marsh in coastal South Carolina.

Pileated Woodpeckers and Canadian Geese

I honestly believe that the Pileated Woodpeckers of South Carolina are having a convention in the swamp and woods on the property. For days now, I have heard them devouring the dead trees and soon-to-be dead insects. There is no possibility of walking in the woods if you desire quiet! Add the honking of the Canadian Geese as they travel overhead, and you will be deafened!
